Savvas Katsikides (Dr. rer.soc.oec (valedictorian) Social/Economic Sciences and Sociology, Johannes Kepler University of Linz) is Professor of Sociology at the University of Cyprus. Previously, he was Lecturer at the University of Technology in Vienna (TU). He was President of the Cyprus Sociological Association in 2009-2010.
His research interests are: European industrial sociology, sociology of work, sociology of technology, organizational and sociological theory and European Economic and Social Integration. He has served as: President of the European Community Studies Association, Vice-President of the European Association of Telematic Applications, Vice President of the Scientific Committee for Prevention of Drugs of the Anti-Drugs Council of the Republic of Cyprus, and Vice President of the Bioethics Committee of the Republic of Cyprus. In 2004 he was awarded the Jean Monnet Chair in European Economic Integration (Social Europe). Since 2010 he is Director of the Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence at the University of Cyprus.
His role in the project will be as the Academic Coordinator of the thematic area of the challenges presented to the EU by migration phenomena and policies.
